I thought I'd give a little update on how Caycen is doing... we went and got his chest x-rays on Monday and saw the cardiologist on Tuesday. It turned out that Caycen has Peripheral Pulmonary Stenosis, you can read about it here. It's pretty much just that the blood vessels to the lungs are small and causes a murmur. The doctor said that it was nothing to worry about and it would most likely go away. He has to go back in 6 months to get it checked out again and the doctor said that it would probably be gone by then.
Caycen then had his 2 week check-up on Wednesday. He weighed 8 lbs 2 oz, was 20.5 inches long, and his head circumfrence was 36.5 cm at his check-up! That's great because they want babies to get back up to at least their birth weight by 2 weeks old and Caycen surpassed that! He's eating good!!! He is in the 41st percentile for weight, 48th percentile for length, and 26th percentile for head circumference. I am so glad that he is growing and so healthy!!! Even his coloring looks much better.
I have really enjoyed being with Caycen these last couple of weeks and I'm already sad about the day that I have to go back to work! I am trying to follow the Baby Wise book and get Caycen on a schedule early so that hopefully he will be sleeping through the night between 8 and 12 weeks old. Right now he's doing pretty good!!! Here is what our day looks like:
7:30 am - morning feeding, play time for 20-30 minutes if he lasts that long(usually I just have him in my lap and play with his hands and make faces or talk to him), then nap
10:30 am - next feeding, play time for 20-30 mins. (tummy time some of this time), then nap
1:30 pm - next feeding, play time 20-30 mins., nap
4:30 pm - next feeding, play time 20-30 mins., nap
7:30 pm - next feeding (Chance usually feeds him this time), play time 10 mins., bath, p.j.s, bed
10:30 pm - night feeding, then straight back to sleep
Then we let him sleep as long as possible during the night. He wakes up at least 2 times during the night to eat, but we put him straight back to bed after eating.
We will be on this schedule for a few weeks. I'm really hoping it will work because I'm ready to start getting some rest again :)
Now I'm having just a few problems. When I put Caycen down for a nap he cries and Baby Wise says to let them "cry-it-out", but I feel sooooo bad!!!! He gets in that cry where he is crying so hard that it goes silent for a few seconds and he just looks pitiful! He also doesn't really like to sleep flat on his back, so he's having trouble sleeping in his cradle at night (yep, he ends up in the bed with us). I know I'm creating some bad habits, but I need advice... what did you do???
We are debating on when we want to put Caycen in his crib... he makes lots of noises so we don't get much sleep so we are thinking pretty soon. I'm so nervous thought!!! When did your baby move into the crib?
Caycen is such a sweet baby and I just love him so so much!!! Any advice that anyone has is greatly appreciated! I love hearing what works for other mommies!
Thanks for reading!

Pictures I took at home:
girl- hold him when he wants to be held and he will not be in your bed forever-trust me. I slept with both of mine for pure selfish reasons. I could NEVER let me kids cry it out (tried, but too hard and they seldom gave up). They are only little for a second. Trust me- just follow your instints. You can NEVER have this time back, so just do what works for you- Baby-wise way or not. No baby ever died from to much snugglin' or lovin'. He is precious and I know you are doing a great job. p.s. BOTH my babies came home and went straight to the crib and did great. This allowed me to sleep some and feel somewhat normal. Babies are the best gift ever and they do not stay little long....take lots of pics. :-)Donee
