Baby Wise - 8 weeks schedule

I just wanted to rant and rave about Baby Wise for a minute... I know I've talked about it before, but after 8 weeks of actually practicing I am SOO pleased with it!! So ladies, if you are pregnant, already have a baby, or plan on having a baby ONE DAY, I highly recommend this book!!!! One of our good friend's mom actually gave me this book when I found out that I was pregnant and I read it pretty fast.

The basic principal of the book is getting your baby on a schedule so that they will be able to sleep through the night pretty early.  Most babies on the babywise routine usually start sleeping through the night between 10 and 12 weeks.

We started out using baby wise the first night we brought Baby C home from the hospital. We immediately put him on a 3 hr feeding schedule which looked something like this:

Nursing at 7:00 am, 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 7:00 pm, dreamfeed 10:00 pm, 1:00 am, 4:00 am, then the day starts over...

Eventually Caycen started to sleep a little longer during the night when we decided to start cluster feeding in the evenings.  so his schedule was the same in the morning, but after the 4:00 pm feeding we would feed him again at 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, then DREAMFEED him at 10:00 pm (this is where you don't wake him up you just feed him while he is sleeping - YES a baby will eat while asleep)... we would do the dreamfeed at 10:00 pm, then he would sleep until about 4:00 am, then start the day again at 7:00 am, so we were only feeding once during the night.

Well let me tell you why I LOVE this book... Caycen turned 8 weeks old this past Wednesday and we decided to drop that middle of the night feeding, since I go back to work on Tuesday and we want to be able to sleep through the night because now mommy and daddy will be working.  So now he goes from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am!!!!! Yes, he still wakes up a few times during the night whining, but we just go back in and pop that passy back in his mouth and he goes back to sleep.  Schedules REALLY do work!!! This is his new schedule:

6:00 am, 9:00 am, 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 8:00 pm, dreamfeed at 10:00 pm and he sleeps until his morning feeding at 6:00 am.

He is still taking about 4 oz. each feeding, but we are thinking about starting to give him 5 oz. a couple of times during the day.  They say to take their weight and multiply it by 2 1/2 and that's how many oz. a day that your baby should be getting.  So Caycen is now almost 13 lbs and needs a little more.

Man, this little boy is GREAT!!!! :)

My Menu Board Tutorial

I made this SUPER CUTE Menu Board for our kitchen because Chance and I are always using the whiteboard on our fridge to write what we want to eat... but this is WAAAAY cuter!!! It's actually been a lot of fun to plan our meals lately because I know that I get to use this :)

This is SOOOO easy that anyone can do it!!!!

Materials:
8 X 10 picture frame (or whatever size you want, but I wouldn't go any smaller than that)
scrapbook paper vinyl letters (or you can even just write the letters on with a whiteboard marker or a permanent marker if you want)

tip:  if you use a permanent marker you can always erase by marking over the permanent marker with a dry-erase marker then wipe it off with a paper towel.

1.  Cut the scrapbook paper to the size of the frame.
2.  Put the scrapbook paper in the frame like a picture.
3.  Put on your vinyl letters or use your permanent marker to write them on.
4.  You have a SUPER CUTE menu board!!!

how easy is that?!?!?!

Hope you have fun!

Do you have any great tutorials??? Please share :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Is it HUMP day already??  Here's what I'm loving today:

1.  I'm LOVING this video of Matt Damon defending teachers (and how HOTT he is doing it ;)  )!!!

2.  I'm LOVING all of the cute ideas for classrooms that I have found on Pinterest that I want to try:

3.  I'm LOVING that my sweet Baby C is rolling over on both sides now! I think he will be ambidextrous haha!!

4.  I'm LOVING my new Menu Board that I made for our kitchen! Isn't it cute??  I will be posting a tutorial so check back for that within the next day or so.

on my counter (it could have been hung on the wall also)

I LOVE this! :)
5.  I'm LOVING that we found a home for this chocolate lab that Chance found at work... he was a stray and you could tell that he was a little skittish, especially with loud noises. He looks almost identical to our chocolate lab, Cooper!

6.  I'm LOVING my wonderful hubby of course! :)
This is at the hunting club that Chance's dad runs

Now, though I'm LOVING all of this stuff I am very SAD that I have to go back to work next Tuesday and leave my sweet little man!!!!! I really wish that I could just stay at home with him forever! Maybe one day...

What are you LOVING this week??  Feel free to link up :)

Tie Onesie

Some people wanted to know how to make this really cute tie onesie that Baby C is sporting in this picture:

Well it was SUPER easy!!!! Here is a tutorial :)

Supplies:
Printable Iron On Transfer Sheets
Computer
Printer
Onesie
Iron

Step 1:
Use the "Paint" program on your computer to "draw" a tie.  I did this so that I could make the tie any color I wanted.  I just used the lines to make a square and then the bottom part of the tie.  I made the tie the color I wanted by clicking the paint can and making it all blue.

Step 2:
Save your picture

Step 3:
Upload your picture into Picnik so that you can add the text you want on your tie.  I just put Caycen's name on there in white.
Step 4:
Save your picture and open it in Microsoft Word so you can make it the size you want to print.  I made my picture about 2 inches wide and 4 or 5 inches long.  Just eye it... you want the top of your tie to be big enough to go across the top of the onesie neck.

Step 5:
Print your tie on your printable iron on paper.

Step 6:
Cut out your tie

Step 7:
Iron your tie onto your onesie

All you need now is a cute little baby to put your onesie on :)  You can print any image you want and make your own onesies, t-shirts, or bags using the printable iron-on transfers.  I LOVE them!!!  This is probably the EASIEST project I've ever done :)

Have fun making your onesie!
